We exist to relieve poverty by providing basic and safe vehicles to individuals who need a vehicle in order to meet their basic transportation needs. We know that the rising cost of living in the Greater Toronto Area has made it harder than ever for some people to afford even the essentials. Often, all someone needs is a hand up to get back on their feet. Our response is rooted in what Scripture teaches us about generosity and compassion. The Bible calls us to care for those in need— “to look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27), and to remember that whatever we do “for the least of these,” we do for Jesus Himself (Matthew 25:40). This is the kind of love we’re called to live out, and the reason we give.
We provide reliable vehicles to individuals and families in the Greater Toronto Area who are experiencing financial hardship and lack of access to basic transportation. By removing transportation barriers, we help people get to work, access healthcare, and care for their families.
We envision a community where no one is held back from opportunity due to a lack of transportation. We aim to support people on their journey toward financial independence, stability, and improved well-being. Through partnerships with local advocate organizations, and by inspiring others to live generously, we are building a network of practical hope and shared impact.
Dignity – We want to protect the dignity of every vehicle recipient. This means we will never share personal information about our vehicle recipients with others (unless granted permission, where circumstances allow). All interaction with vehicle recipients will be made by advocates until it is time for vehicle presentation, at which point Generosity Garage will show care and respect to the recipient, with the advocate present to manage the relationship.
Excellence – We endeavor to exceed expectations when presenting a vehicle to a recipient by providing them with a package of information, just like they would receive when purchasing a new vehicle, including things like a checklist of specifications, report on the condition of the vehicle, letter of congratulations, suggestions for care of the vehicle, and all accompanying vehicle service history paperwork that is available.
Generosity – While generosity is in our name, we want to practice it quietly, anonymously (such that vehicle recipients do not know the names of the people who have worked behind the scenes to make a vehicle donation possible), and in partnership with others. Any social media or promotion that is done is not to recognize our own name but to spread the word so that others will want to join us in the practice of generosity and helping others.
Collaboration – We could not exist without a variety of partnerships and volunteers who are willing to join us in our mission by giving of their time, skills, money, vehicles, and more.
Hope - We will partner with advocate organizations who are in lasting relationship with vehicle recipients and ultimately point them to hope beyond just providing a vehicle.
